Aim of Project

European Union recycles 30% of plastic waste. In addition to this seven tons of plastic is lost in the ocean in every second. Unfortunately these issues causes a loss of 70-105 billion per year in the economy as well as environmental pollution. This situation shows people should take part in combating against plastic waste and reducing waste production at source. we have prepared the project “Plastic Matters!” in order to raise the awareness of young people about the plastic pollution in their environment and to encourage them to take a more active role in reducing plastic pollution by using the 5R method. We aim to bring together the rest of the countries within the European Union regarding the fight against plastic waste, to produce solutions and to support the sharing of good practices among them and use digital sotrytelling to fight with plastic pollution.

Objectives of the project are as follows;

* To enable the participants to understand the relationship between the types of domestic solid wastes produced in daily life

and their consumption habits,

* To enable the participants to understand the effects of the production and disposal of frequently used products in daily life

on health, economy and environment,

* To ensure that the participants have information about the domestic solid waste management process and how

municipalities in different countries manage this process,

* To enable the participants to learn about the negative effects of poor domestic solid waste management and plastic waste

on the environment, health and economy,

* To ensure that the participants are informed about the plastic waste management and good practices of different countries

and therefore encourage the participants to take an active role in reducing plastic waste at its source,

*To improve participants competences photography, video shooting, digital storytelling,intercultural dialogue, creativity and

teamwork to enable them use digital storytelling in the fight against plastic waste,

* To inform the participants about the functionality of Erasmus+ programs in solving the common problems of the European Union and to encourage them to take part in other projects and write projects

We implemented activities about waste management, plastic pollution, recycling, 5r methods and digital story creation. Accordingly, the characteristics of the participants;

* Each partner organization recruited 6 youngsters

* Recruited participants needed to improve their competenes about plastic pollution, digital story telling and environmental sustainability

* Three of them had no Erasmus experience before

* No age limit for youth leaders

* As half of the target group are migrants, three of participants recruited were those with migrant background in each team as stated below
